IP Power 9258 Serial connection settings (Hyperterminal)

This article will show you what settings are needed in order to make a serial port connection from your PC to a IP Power 9258. I spent a couple hours trying to figure this out, so hopefully this will save you some time!

  1. Connect the appropriate RS232 serial cable from your PC to the IP Power 9258
  2. Open Hyperterminal (or your favorite serial connection client)
  3. Set the following parameters:
    Bits per second: 19200
    Data bits: 8
    Parity: None
    Stop bits: 1
    Flow control: Hardware
  4. Hit the OK button to establish a connection
  5. Power cycle the IP Power 9258 device in order to capture the serial port output
